

Composition: One ampoule contains: Active ingredient: chondroitin sulphate sodium — 100 or 200 mg. Excipients: benzyl alcohol, sodium metabisulphite, sodium hydroxide, water for injections.
Form: Solution for intramuscular and intra-articular administration.
Indications: Degenerative and dystrophic diseases of the joints and spine: • Osteoarthritis of peripheral joints. • Intervertebral osteochondrosis and osteoarthritis. To accelerate bone callus formation in fractures.
Contraindications: • Hypersensitivity to the medicine or its components. • Bleeding and a tendency to bleed. • Thrombophlebitis. • For intra-articular administration: active inflammatory or infectious processes in the joint, active skin disease or skin infection at the intended injection site. • Childhood. • Pregnancy and breastfeeding (safety data are currently unavailable).
Dosage: Administer 100 mg intramuscularly every other day. If well tolerated, increase to 200 mg from the fourth injection. The course is 25–30 injections. If necessary, a repeat course may be given after 6 months. In osteoarthritis of large joints, intra-articular and intramuscular administration may be combined: up to 5 intra-articular injections of 200 mg, with a 3-day interval between administrations, and 16 intramuscular injections of 200 mg every other day. Intra-articular administration is performed under aseptic conditions by a specialist trained in the technique. Depending on joint size, up to 2 ml of Chondroguard® may be injected into the joint cavity. After injection, wipe the puncture site with an alcohol swab and apply a bactericidal plaster. For bone callus formation, the course lasts 3–4 weeks (10–14 injections every other day).
Side effects: Local reactions (redness, itching), allergy, rarely — bleeding at the injection site.
Interactions: Enhances the effect of anticoagulants, antiplatelet agents, and fibrinolytics. Coagulation monitoring is required when used together.
Warnings: Intra-articular injection must be performed by a specialist. Use with caution in patients prone to bleeding. Prescription only.
