Elzhina

Composition: One tablet contains: active ingredients: neomycin sulphate 95.6 mg (equivalent to neomycin 65000 IU); ornidazole 500.0 mg; prednisolone sodium phosphate 4.0 mg (equivalent to prednisolone 3.0 mg); econazole nitrate 117.0 mg (equivalent to econazole 100.0 mg). Excipients: lactose monohydrate 305.4 mg; potato starch 90.0 mg; crospovidone 24.0 mg; povidone K-17 (low-molecular-weight polyvinylpyrrolidone) 19.0 mg; talc 18.0 mg; calcium stearate 12.0 mg; colloidal silicon dioxide 12.0 mg; polysorbate-20 3.0 mg.

Form: Vaginal tablets.

Indications: • Bacterial vaginitis. • Vulvovaginitis caused by Candida fungi. • Vaginitis caused by mixed infection.

Contraindications: • Hypersensitivity to ornidazole, econazole or other imidazole/nitroimidazole derivatives, neomycin or other aminoglycosides, prednisolone, or any component of the medicine. • Organic diseases of the central nervous system. • Haematopoietic disorders (leukaemia, impaired haematopoiesis). • Pregnancy. • Breastfeeding. • Children under 18 years of age.

Dosage: Intravaginally: one vaginal tablet daily before bedtime. The average treatment course is 6–9 days. Wash hands and perform genital hygiene before use. Inserting the vaginal tablet: • Prepare the Eljina blister and room-temperature water. • Remove one tablet and moisten it in water for 20–30 seconds. • Lie on your back with your legs slightly bent and carefully insert the tablet as deeply as possible into the vagina using your middle finger. • Remain lying down for 10–15 minutes after insertion.

Side effects: Burning, irritation, swelling at the site of administration, vaginal dryness, contact dermatitis, rash, urticaria. Rarely — angioedema.

Interactions: Unlikely interaction with other drugs. Use with caution with warfarin and acenocoumarol (oral anticoagulants).

Warnings: For intravaginal use only. Do not ingest. Avoid sexual intercourse during treatment. Tablet remnants may remain in the vagina — this does not affect efficacy.
