Pantogam Active Capsules

Composition: The composition section of the supplied instruction states: 1 tablet contains D,L-hopantenic acid 300 mg; excipients: microcrystalline cellulose 20.97 mg, magnesium stearate 1.53 mg. The description and dosing sections of the same document refer to hard gelatin capsules.

Form: Capsules

Indications: • Cognitive impairment in organic brain lesions, including sequelae of neuroinfections and traumatic brain injury, and neurotic disorders. • Cerebrovascular insufficiency caused by atherosclerotic changes in cerebral vessels. • Extrapyramidal hyperkinesias, including myoclonus epilepsy, Huntington’s chorea, hepatolenticular degeneration and Parkinson’s disease; treatment of extrapyramidal syndrome caused by antipsychotics. • Epilepsy, with anticonvulsants. • Psychoemotional overload, reduced mental and physical performance, to improve concentration and memory. • Neurogenic urinary disorders: pollakiuria, imperative urges, urge incontinence, enuresis. • Schizophrenia, as part of combination treatment.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity, children under 18 years, acute severe kidney diseases, pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Dosage: Orally, 15–20 minutes after meals, 1–3 capsules (0.3–0.9 g) 2–3 times daily, preferably in the morning and daytime. Maximum daily dose: 8 capsules (2.4 g). Treatment course: 1–4 months, sometimes 6–12 months. A repeat course is possible after 3–6 months.

Side effects: Rare: allergy (rhinitis, skin rash), insomnia, headache, nausea. Very rare: drowsiness, dizziness, tinnitus, abdominal pain.

Interactions: Enhances the effect of anticonvulsants and local anesthetics, prolongs the action of barbiturates. Enhances the effect of glycine and etidronic acid. Reduces side effects of neuroleptics and phenobarbital.

Warnings: Not recommended to combine with other nootropics during long-term use. Prescription only.
