Pantogam Solution

Composition: Hopantenic acid

Form: Oral solution

Indications: Perinatal encephalopathy, cerebral palsy, intellectual disability with/without behavioral disorders, delayed mental development and formation of school skills, hyperkinetic disorders and attention deficit syndrome, neurotic-like conditions, organic lesions of the CNS, epilepsy with slowed mental processes, neurogenic urinary disorders.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to components, acute severe kidney diseases, pregnancy (1st trimester), phenylketonuria (syrup contains aspartame).

Dosage: Orally, 15–30 minutes after meals. Dosage by age: under 1 year — 5–10 ml (0.5–1 g) per day; 1–3 years — 5–12.5 ml (0.5–1.25 g); 3–7 years — 7.5–15 ml (0.75–1.5 g); over 7 years — 10–20 ml (1–2 g). Single dose: 2.5–5 ml (0.25–0.5 g), daily: 7.5–30 ml (0.75–3 g). Course: 1–4 months (sometimes up to 6 months), repeat course possible in 3–6 months. Titration over 7–12 days, maximum dose 15–40 days, followed by gradual reduction over 7–8 days.

Side effects: Allergic reactions (rhinitis, conjunctivitis, rash). Very rarely — hyperexcitability, sleep disturbances or drowsiness, lethargy, headache, dizziness, ringing in the ears.

Interactions: Prolongs the action of barbiturates, enhances the effect of anticonvulsants (phenobarbital, carbamazepine, neuroleptics), etidronic acid and glycine; potentiates the effect of local anesthetics.

Warnings: Do not use after the expiration date. Keep out of reach of children.

Age restrictions: From birth (as indicated)

Pregnancy: Contraindicated in the 1st trimester of pregnancy.
