Fluimucil

Composition: Acetylcysteine

Form: Effervescent tablets

Indications: Acute and chronic respiratory diseases with viscous sputum: bronchitis, pneumonia, tracheitis, cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis, laryngotracheitis, sinusitis, rhinosinusitis, otitis. Facilitates sputum discharge after surgeries and injuries.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to acetylcysteine, active peptic ulcer, phenylketonuria, age under 18, breastfeeding period.

Dosage: Adults — 1 tablet (600 mg) once daily, dissolved in 1/3 glass of water. Duration: 5–10 days for acute conditions, up to several months for chronic cases (as prescribed by a doctor).

Side effects: Headache, tinnitus, tachycardia, vomiting, diarrhea, dyspepsia, allergic reactions, bronchospasm, hypotension. Very rarely — Stevens-Johnson and Lyell’s syndromes.

Interactions: Incompatible with antitussives. Avoid simultaneous use with antibiotics (tetracyclines, ampicillin, amphotericin B) — observe 2-hour interval. Enhances effect of nitroglycerin. Activated charcoal reduces acetylcysteine’s effectiveness.

Warnings: Use with caution in asthma, peptic ulcer, esophageal varices, hypertension. Do not use metal utensils for mixing. May interfere with lab tests (ketones, salicylates).

Age restrictions: 18 years and older

Pregnancy: Allowed only if benefits outweigh risks, under medical supervision. Breastfeeding should be discontinued during use.
